No Emmaboda

The plan was to play at Rasslebygd (Emmaboda in peoplemouth) but we turned the offer down. We haven’t found a new drummer yet and during this summer we live in three different cities, spread out over Sweden. It’s hard to find the time, place and money to gather and rehearse, which we wanted to do to give the best performance possible. Luckily enough, we are not a headline act so the festival will surely manage without us. Still, if there are people who really wanted to see us, we wish to apologize. It’s not a good thing to break a promise. We don’t do this to fuck people over, we are not pure evil. But we don’t have that much energy and money at the moment.

Traditional media in Sweden haven’t really noticed Kommun at all. No articles, no reviews, no radio, no tv. There are some exceptions, though, mostly from the local newspapers in my old home town, Östersund:

First off, let me remind you of this week’s concerts.

Secondly, let me explain something. People often whine about how many musical projects we have and how hard it is to separate them. Humanity often surprises me. We are able to send people to, that’s right, the moon but it’s seems impossible for some of us to separate 5 pop groups. So, I will help you to do so with an ultimate guide.

We played in Stockholm, friday. It was great! The crowd was positive and friendly and we had a really nice time up on stage and none of us in the band was disappointed afterwards. There is usually at least one who doesn’t get the feeling during the show. But not tonight, as Peder Stenberg sings. We feel confident and we’ll probably perform even better in Malmö on saturday.

The game of the name

One of the most common questions we get about this new music project concerns the name. “Why do you choose a swedish name for the band when the lyrics are in english?” people ask us. Our reply could be “Why not?” and then we could start waving our hands in front of them shouting “The air is free”. But we don’t because we’re polite. One of us in the band was recently on vacation in Italy and saw the word “municipale” everywhere. He liked it and suggested it as a band name. It was, though, a bit too long and complicated and we don’t really have any connection to Italy at all. We translated it into english, “commune” (hardly a perfect translation, but still). It didn’t do it for us since it doesn’t spell out good on paper, estheticly. See for yourself:

The letter “K” is so much more beautiful than “C”, don’t you agree? And the “E” is redundant and makes the number of letters uneven. So we chose the swedish version in the end.
